HypnoBirthing® was originally established in the United States by Marie Mongan. Established in the US in 1989, the HypnoBirthing® methods are now being taught here in the UK. So it's well established, effective and safe.

How's it different from other hypnosis for childbirth courses?

There are many other courses around, but this method, HypnoBirthing
®, is a complete birth education programme. As a health professional as well as a hypnotherapist I wanted to be able to provide a structure for my clients where I can draw from both "sides" and provide a well-rounded programme.

How Does It Work?

You'll get a structured but informal class format that teaches about the physical and emotional aspects of birth. You'll learn why your body does what it does, as well as how.

Here are just some of the things you'll learn that a regular antenatal class would not teach you.

Breathing techniques that actually help the birth, rather than make it harder

How to dramatically reduce your risk of tearing during birth with this stunningly simple massage technique

When it's alright and OK to ask to continue with a natural birth process with the medical staff…what questions you should ask them…and also when it's time to let them take charge.

How to release any fears you might have about childbirth…regardless of where they come from

Most importantly, you'll know how to relax and stay calm and in control, regardless of what's happening around you!

As well as the antenatal classes themselves, you get a professionally produced 302-page manual - completely up to date- all the scripts and handouts you need, plus the relaxation and affirmation CD, all included in the price.

What you'll learn through HypnoBirthing
® is how you can have a natural childbirth, without drugs…with dramatically reduced levels of anxiety…and often little or no pain.

OK....but what if things don't go as planned?

Even if you experience complications - perhaps needing to be induced, or even if you need a caesarean - you can still benefit greatly from the techniques…by feeling in control of your birth.

No one can or should be making promises about the "Perfect Birth", but with HypnoBirthing
®, you can have a much, much more comfortable and relaxed birth than you would have had otherwise.

These simple techniques
do require practice - but the end result is worth it!

When's the best time to start?

The sooner you start, the more time you have to practice- but even if you're late into your pregnancy,
HypnoBirthing® can still help you.

Classes are small and run with a minimum of two couples and a maximum of five, which is nice and ensures that everyone gets full attention, so places are strictly limited.

I also provide classes to private clients in the comfort of your own home. Call or email me for prices.

Does HypnoBirthing® help the baby too?

Yes. We find that babies born using HypnoBirthing® tend to be calmer, feed better, sleep better and experience less trauma.

Sounds great! Anything else?

There's lots, but here's just a few more. With HypnoBirthing® you can:

Reduce the length of the first stage of labour by anything from 2 - 4 hours

Lower the chances of a breech birth by learning how to 'turn' the baby into the correct position using posture and self-hypnosis

Increase your milk flow by using the relaxation techniques you'll learn, if you're planning to breastfeed

Dramatically reduce your likelihood of suffering from post-natal depression, because you'll have had a much calmer and less painful birth

Recover physically from the birth much faster, because you haven't 'wasted' energy in the process

Develop the confidence in your own body to aim for a homebirth, if that is an option you want to consider

Why Come To Me?

I'm a fully qualified and actively registered nurse and health visitor, which means I can help you in a broader sense and refer you to other practitioners too if needs be.

I'm a qualified hypnotherapist, so I can help you with any other issues, fears or phobias you might have as well!

The HypnoBirthing® antenatal classes run as five 2.5 hour sessions, one per week, and are designed to be taught to small groups of couples.

Where are they taught?

In the vicinities of Salisbury and Bath, but keep an eye out for my new classes. I'll advise as and when the next class is starting!

Some HypnoBirthing® practitioners just do individual couples, but a great benefit that you get from doing it in a group is the support and encouragement of the other expectant mums and dads. Many couples become good friends and stay in touch long after the course has finished. So if you are considering this, why not ask any of your other mums-to-be if they want to participate too, and share the cost as a class is cheaper per couple than a private class.

How Much Does It Cost?

The normal price for the full five classes of antenatal instruction, your 302-page manual, CD, handouts, and everything else you need, is just £325 per couple if there are a minimum of two couples. And -

You'll learn the techniques once for this birth, but then you can then use them again and again, no matter how many children you have

You can use HypnoBirthing® in conjunction with any other plans you have - homebirth or hospital, water birth…whatever. It's your choice what kind of birth to have - HypnoBirthing® helps them all.

You can use the techniques to help calm and relax yourself any time you feel stressed out…(I've had many of my couples tell me this alone has been invaluable).

and you're also getting all your course materials as well - excellent value!

You're pregnant for nine months - that's around 280 days - which means this course is less than the cost of a decent cup of coffee per day…!

Fertility and reproduction is a delicate, and very complex series of biological processes that people usually don't think about too much until they decide that they would like to have a family.  There are so many factors involved in this process and they can be disrupted, interrupted, unsettled and shifted by even a small shift in one's equilibrium- such as stress, anxiety, disruptions in routine. In the Solution Focused approach to fertility, support can be given to couples trying to conceive by helping to get to their optimum level of fertility, by helping to reduce stress and anxiety, removing mental barriers and blocks, and supporting and reinforcing positive behavioural and belief patterns.Hypnotherapy has been very successful in helping to increase both natural conception and IVF success rates.
